Lecture by Eugene Theuma 'Punic Roman Malta' Print
Thursday, 8. April 2010, 18:00 - 19:00

Fr Eugene Theuma is giving a lecture entitled  ‘Punic Roman Malta – A working Hypothesis’ and will focus on a number of well known and some lesser known archaeological sites around Rabat. Primarily he will illustrate his findings on that "hole in the ground" next to Saqqajja Petrol Station. The talk will also offer interpretation of this site and other discoveries around Rabat and he will share the results of his studies of the Rabat water system that feeds the main fountains of Saqajja, Gheriexam, and Hammiem.  Fr Eugene has been studying this water system since 1995 and he explains that there are some exciting developments that will eventually shed new light on the Punic/Roman fortifications around the ancient city of Melita (Rabat/Mdina).

This talk is open to the general public and will commence at 6 pm at Din l-Art Helwa, 133 Melita Street, Valletta. Those interested in attending are advised to be seated at 17.45 hrs. Entrance is free of charge however donations to the organisation's Heritage Fund will be greatly appreciated.
